About the artist
Born in 1976 in Ulan-Ude, Buryatia.
Oriental tales and national legends come to life in Zorikto's paintings.

The artist masterfully combines the techniques of the Russian academic school of painting, the philosophy of modern European Art and the Buryat folk traditions to convey the flavour of nomadic life. A central theme in his art is the image of the nomad as contemplator, poet, artist and philosopher.

Zorikto Dorzhiev is a versatile artist who is constantly experimenting in new media and genres in Art. In addition to his paintings and graphic drawings, he creates sculptures, sketches of national costumes, and makes video projects. Zorikto worked as a costume designer in Sergei Bodrov's film "Mongol" (nominated for an Oscar) and illustrated one of the best novels about Genghis Khan – the epic "The Cruel Age" by Isai Kalashnikov.
Zorikto Dorzhiev's solo exhibitions have been held at the State Tretyakov Gallery (Moscow), the State Museum of Oriental Art (Moscow), the Council of Europe (Strasbourg, France), the European Commission (Brussels, Belgium), as well as in many museums and private galleries worldwide.

Zorikto Dorzhiev's works are in private collections in Russia, the USA, Germany, and Australia.

His works have featured at auctions, including Christie's.
