Weld Queen

Weld Queen
I see the world as a paradoxical coexistence of matter and spirit, and all my work is primarily about this. Man is a unique entity: omnipotent, evolving, capable of creating, and at the same time - fragile flesh, impermanent, dependent on hedonistic impulses. This dualism conceals an impossible and at the same time natural harmony, which can only be realized and accepted through play. My creativity ALLOWS, removes barriers and says "IT'S POSSIBLE!" (try, experiment, search, do not be afraid). The game puts one into the position of an observer, helps to see the picture in a complex way, remove contradictions and find a way to move on.
About the artist
Alexandra Ivleva aka WELD QUEEN - artist, sculptor, performer.

She was born in 1985 in Kislovodsk. Since 2008 she has been living and working in Moscow.

The creative path of the "Queen of Welding" began with the desire to create a collection of lamps. Alexandra's father, a design engineer, helped her to implement her plan, and, inspired by the result, she began to make sculptures with lighting.
Alexandra honed her welding skills in an art welding workshop and the Polytechnic College and studied art at the Institute of Contemporary Art (Moscow), as well as at workshops of the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA, Moscow).

Today Alexandra works in the genre of interactive sculpture, which she values for giving people the opportunity to get in touch with art, bypassing conventions and prohibitions that are often found in museums.

The main media that Weld Queen works with is metal. According to the artist, from childhood she had the idea that metal is malleable, like plasticine.
Alexandra is also known for her public art projects focused on interaction with viewers. One of the most famous is the sculpture of a giant meditating cat for the Moscow International Flower and Garden Festival Moscow Flower Show.
Spectacular performances that break gender stereotypes made Alexandra a prominent figure in the art scene. Each of her appearances creates a sensation: she appears in public places only in welding outfits, with a protective mask in the form of a kokoshnik and heavy steel accessories. The Queen of Welding is a prominent figure in the art scene.

She participated in exhibitions, including the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA, Moscow) and International Art Fairs: Frieze Art Show (New York, 2019), Scope Art Show (Miami, 2018), Moscow International Contemporary Art Fair Cosmoscow 2018.
